Take a card on your iPhone

Hold the client's card flat against the top of your iPhone, near the camera, and hold it still until you see the tick. There's no reader to carry.

Set it up first in Settings → Card payments. The Tap to Pay on iPhone panel appears there once your card payments are live, with a Set up Tap to Pay button.

Only the business owner can set it up, because only they can accept Apple's terms. It needs an iPhone XS or later — the app tells you if your phone can't do it, and you can still take cash, PayID, or send a payment link.

Taking one

At checkout, tap Take, then Tap to Pay. It says how much you're taking and from whom, then gets the phone ready — wait for that before the card goes near it. When it's done you'll see the amount that was actually charged, and you can send them a receipt.
