Who we are

Clippers Base is a product of Clippers Base Pty Ltd (ACN 699 861 491, ABN 35 699 861 491), a company registered in Australia with its registered office at 83 Princes Hwy, St Peters NSW 2044. In this Privacy Policy, "Clippers Base", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Clippers Base Pty Ltd.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and to handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains, in general terms, what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and how you can contact us about it.

Whose information this policy covers

Clippers Base is a tool that businesses use to run their own operations, including managing information about their own customers.

  • Account holders and their team — the businesses and individuals who sign up for and use Clippers Base. This policy applies to the personal information we handle about you directly.
  • Your customers — where you use Clippers Base to store or manage information about your own clients, you decide what to collect and why, and you are responsible for that information and for meeting your own obligations to those individuals. We handle it on your behalf in order to provide the service.
  • Website visitors — people who visit our website.

Information we collect

The personal information we collect may include your name and contact details, business details, account and login information, billing information, location information (where you allow it), information you or your team enter into the service (which may include information about your own customers), recordings and transcripts where you use those features, your communications with us, and information about how you access and use our services. You choose what information about your own customers to enter into Clippers Base.

We collect this information directly from you when you sign up for and use Clippers Base, automatically as you use our website and app, and in some cases from third parties who help us provide our services.

How we use information

We use personal information to provide, operate, maintain and improve our services; to set up and manage your account; to process payments; to communicate with you and provide support; to keep our services secure and prevent fraud or misuse; to comply with our legal obligations; and for other purposes you consent to or that are permitted by law.

Disclosure of information

We may disclose personal information to third parties who provide services to us or on our behalf — for purposes such as hosting and data storage, infrastructure, payment processing, messaging and communications, mapping, analytics, AI features, and customer support. We provide them only with the information reasonably needed to perform their function and require them to protect it.

We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a sale, merger or other business restructure.

We do not sell personal information.

Storage and overseas handling

We take reasonable steps to store personal information on servers located in Australia. Some of the service providers we use may process or store limited information overseas, including in the United States. Where personal information is disclosed to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

AI features

Some features of Clippers Base use third-party artificial intelligence to generate summaries, suggestions and similar assistance. We do not use your information, or information about your customers, to train AI models, and we take reasonable steps to ensure the AI providers we use do not do so either. AI-generated output is intended as assistance only and should not be relied on as a substitute for your own judgement — see our Terms of Service.

Cookies and analytics

We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies on our website and app to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how our services are used so we can improve them. You can manage non-essential cookies using the controls we provide — such as the cookie settings link in our website footer — or through your browser settings. Some cookies are necessary for the service to work and cannot be switched off.

Marketing communications

From time to time we may send you information about our products, updates and offers. You can opt out of these at any time using the unsubscribe option in the message or by contacting us, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Messages we need to send in order to provide the service — such as receipts, account notices and booking notifications — are not marketing and are not subject to opt-out.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including encryption in transit and at rest and controls over who can access data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, and for any period we are required to retain it under applicable law. If you close your account, we will delete or de-identify the personal information we hold about you within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted to keep it.

Your rights

You may ask us to access, or to correct, the personal information we hold about you by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity first. There may be circumstances where we are unable to give access or make a correction, in which case we will let you know why.

If you have a question, concern or complaint about how we handle personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Data breaches

If we become aware of a data breach involving personal information that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Children

Clippers Base is intended for use by businesses and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 to hold an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was most recently changed, and your continued use of Clippers Base after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
